I was doing so well, blogging everyday in place of my sisters wonderful blog entries...then the wheels fell off in a big way.
Starting from our crazy weekend last weekend, then Kenzi got tonsillitis. Really really sick chicken....no sleep sick. I had some big food orders this week as well, so I juggled that while I nursed Kenzi. Kenzi was on the mend on Thursday and then Connor woke up with the same symptoms on Friday morning. He is even sicker than Kenz. Again no sleep. Pobj has to have a proposal done for work before he flies out on Friday, so he hasn't been home before 7pm. So, here is little old me single mumming it up (Amazing if you are one, amazing) trying to spend quality time with my husband who I won't see for 11 days (Longest time apart for 9 years) and nurse my babies back to health. So, that is a long winded way of saying I will be off air for a time until everything settles and life is a little calmer.
Meanwhile I wonder where all my sisters are to help me laugh my way through this icky, yukky period of life? Kisses until I return full of energy and lots of school holiday fun, wheels all glued and welded back on!

Toothy Celebrations
I know that some people are shocked and horrified by the whole tooth fairy absence for Connor...but he is nearly 8 for goodness sake and is not into fairies...When Kenzi looses a tooth it will be a different matter, but for Connor we had a tooth tea.
He had a new toothbrush and toothpaste on his plate and he got to wear a crown (which this time was made of paper, but I will sew one up for future toothy celebrations!)

There was also a little note in the package from Pobj and I about how cool it is that he is growing up and how proud we are of him. He totally loved it and even let me take photo's.
So this is what we will do for my little man...no fairies but lots of fun!

Letters

I love the post. I love recieving snail mail and I love that my kids love it to. Today we got a very big surprise and found a rather large letter in our mail box. It had activities and letters and photo's in it. What a nice surprise. Thank you Linny and Co. I loved it. The kids loved it. Totally worth the effort that I know it takes!

The Start
I have begun!
Christmas is going to be a homemade feast of pretties...yep even the boys!
Mum gave me a hand today, because I had to fast track some presents. Yeh, to a sewing Mum who is awesome at it and even lines up those darn stripes! Yeh to me for getting started. I am hoping now that the ride has begun I can continue gaining momentum and get it all done by D day or C day!
Here is a peek at one part of the package.

Toothless Terror
Actually he is not a terror at all, but he has lost his second tooth! I feel like I need to do something for him...almost a coming of age thing..but what? Mmmmm, will have to ponder that some more. Meanwhile I hear you all saying, "Just be normal and do the tooth fairy thing!" That is all well and good, but we have never been normal here and I love the idea of doing our own thing...after all the tooth fairy thing must have started at a home level somewhere and others got wind of it and now parents everywhere are giving out the coins and stashing away the teeth! Perhaps we can start a tradition that goes global! Well, at least in this little world that I live in any way.
So I am away to ponder the tooth thing and to wonder about the memories that my babies will carry with them or to muse over whether they will be eternally damaged because we have refused to follow some of those wonderful childhood traditions?
Wonderful, Wacky Weekends
Some weekends for us are casual take it easy, catch up on the housework or with old friends....not this weekend.
Will post soon.
Love Trin
We launched ourselves into a crazy weekend with a road trip up to Hannanvale for beautiful Aunty Rita's 90th.
This was the start of our road trip...no more photo's because I forgot about the camera!
We caught up with relations that knew us and some that didn't! The kids had a blast playing with the other kids there. Pobj and I had to leave Connor and Kenzi with Mum and Dad (God Bless our mother and Father) because we were heading back down to Newcastle so we could cater for a wedding of some great friends of ours.
This is all the yummy food that I set out for high tea. Very posh!
Memories came flooding back of the day...that I do day when I married the man I loved most in the world. Now, 8 years on he is still the man I love most in the world...hmmmm weddings either make me cry eg. Calli and Andrew's wedding or make me rather nostalgic eg. Andy and Laura's wedding. The wedding was at Tocal.
What a beautiful place. He looked handsome and she looked beautiful (very Jane Austin).
There was a spanner thrown into the equation with the onset of rain and wind...the high tea was supposed to be an outdoor reception. I made the call to move it inside when it was raining and looked like it had set in.....it turned out to be a beautiful spring evening after the storm, but what can you do.
Will post soon.

The Best Laid Plans

I was going to spend this afternoon writing a few posts that would post themselves over the next week. I like being part of the blog even when I'm not near a computer. But you know, the best laid plans and all that. Our computer is heading to the computer doctor for a little rest and relaxation. Just a little fine tuning, but it needs to be dropped off now. So goodbye fair sisters. I'll be back in about a week and a half, we're doing London, Wales, Bristol and Chatham. That means salt and vinegar chips, Primark and more charity shops! Aargh.

Got Milk

Banana milk shakes are a home taste (will I ever call Glen Oak anything other than home?). I've drunk them from London to Amsterdam and so many other places in between, but they always taste of the farm. No matter what is whizzed into the cup, as long as it's real banana I'm transported instantly back to the kitchen at home.
So this afternoon, I drink and I think of home. It's not a long, deep missing like it is sometimes. This kind of missing is the missing of all the good things that have been and all the good things that are to come. There's still lots of memories to make, I have 2 whole months coming up to fill with sounds, scents, tastes and everything good that makes up home. I can't wait.

Yumminessmetre

The cake was goooood. Light and sticky and fruity and good. Pretty sweet so more of a dessert cake than an everyday cake. A few slices tasted like the last thing I'd cooked in the pan- tomato and garlic and onion! A different kind of spiced apple cake. But the majority of it was yumminess. And welcome back Kt Mac, we've missed you!
