A Place to Rest Our Heads

Kt Mac and Trinny are posting all over the place, so I'm joining in the fun with the second last holiday post.

Because we had no itinerary for our holiday we ended up staying wherever we could.  This worked out pretty well for most of the time.  We had a book with campsites in it, and if there were no campsites in the book for the area we were in we'd just drive until we found a tent sign and follow that.  Just once the campsite we'd seen signs to was closed so we slept in the car, another time the campsite was full but we were sent to another one which was  in a great spot, and other than those little hiccups we did pretty well.  Here's just a few of the places we laid our weary heads over the holiday:This was the plum tree campsite where we stayed the first night.  There was a beautiful, clear creek running to the left of our spot, and the huge plum tree above us.  Not a bad find for our first night of adventuring.

This was our second night, the night when the campsite was closed so we slept in a motorway stop.  There was the most massive lightning storm going on, we had the perfect view laying in the car with the boot window above us.  This was also the night that we found out the boot leaked!
The campsite we stayed at here was across the water, kind of in the spot where the mountains meet.  We were sent to this one because the campsite we first went to was full.  Not a bad second choice!
Take note of the street light above our tent, the one our tent rope is tied onto.  We had a bad habit of camping right near any lights that were in the area.  We were sure we were fine in this campsite, until it got dark and suddenly our tent lit up like a beacon.  I went outside, only to find that we hadn't even realised we were tied up to the light!  And in my sleepy head I was sure I would be able to put a garbage bag over the light.  Ummm, no.  So I threw a blanket over the tent instead.  And then we tried to remember to look for the lights in all the other campsites.
Our campsite here is on the top of the cliff, the first one that you can see in the picture.  It's probably the most amazing location I've seen for a campsite.  The only problem with this campsite was it had a gate that didn't open until 8am.  A bummer when you've gotten up at 6, ready to leave by 6.30 and you drive around to find you're locked in.

One last post to come.  Although I seem to be delaying...

Once again I am speechless.
Mind you I would have loved to see you trying to lob a garbage bag into the light pole!
Very beautiful and Enid Blyton adventurous.
